About this trek
Poon Hill is where Nepal first reveals itself to trekkers. In seven days, you walk through rhododendron forests that bloom crimson and pink in spring, past traditional Gurung villages unchanged for centuries, to a viewpoint that stops experienced Himalayan trekkers in their tracks. Standing on Poon Hill at dawn, watching the Annapurna massif and Dhaulagiri catch their first light across an 80km panorama, you understand why people come back to Nepal again and again. Short enough for beginners. Spectacular enough for veterans. The perfect introduction — and a perfect trek in its own right.
- Dawn panorama from Poon Hill (3,210m) — 8 peaks above 7,000m
- Rhododendron forests in full bloom (March–April)
- Traditional Gurung and Magar village culture
- Visit Tadapani — the rhododendron capital of Nepal
- Annapurna South (7,219m) up close
- Machapuchare "Fish Tail" peak views
- No technical climbing — accessible to all fitness levels

From the trail.
“My first trek ever. I was 48 and had zero experience. Nepali Trekking was honest with me about what to expect and what fitness I needed. Our guide was patient, funny, and never once made me feel slow. Poon Hill sunrise was the most beautiful thing I have seen in my life. I booked the Annapurna Circuit for next year before I was even back in Pokhara.”
